Artsonia is an online student art gallery. When LFP students complete artwork with a volunteer Art Docent, those projects are photographed and uploaded to Artsonia, where they can be shared with your friends and family members. Keepsakes can be purchased from the site with an image of your child's artwork, and LFP will get a percentage of the profits from each purchase.

The annual LFP PTA auction is our biggest fundraiser of the year. It is generally held each year at the Shoreline Center. Come enjoy a tasty dinner and bid on some great items to support our school.

Enrichment Programs

To support arts education at LFP, the PTA sponsors the volunteer-run Art Docent program. Volunteers from the school teach art lessons about a particular artist and/or elements of art, and guide the students in creating a work of art in that style. Volunteers are not required to have had experience as an art teacher. Training and lesson plans are provided.

We are leaders in our community who work as a team with family advocates, family support centers, early childhood education programs and school staff to:

* Listen to ideas of how to help children be successful in school
* Bring families and schools together to plan and implement YOUR ideas

Reflections
Reflections

The Reflections Program is a National PTA and WSPTA cultural arts competition. The purpose is to provide an opportunity for students to use their creative talents by expressing themselves through their own original works. Each year, Reflections challenges students to create art that supports a specific theme. A student may submit an entry in any of six arts areas. Only original works of art are accepted. The six art areas are: Literature, Music Composition, Photography, Visual Arts, Film/Video and Choreography/Dance. Information about the competition will come home in the fall.

Students will have the opportunity to open a savings account with WA Federal and make deposits weekly, right here at school. It only takes a minimum deposit of $5.00 and a completed application to establish your student’s savings account. This is an outstanding opportunity for your child to learn about banking and to establish a habit of making savings a part of their regular routine that will last a lifetime.

The PTA's School Enrichment committee plans a menu of after-school classes each semester. Types of classes include: science, dance, drama, foreign language, self-defence, and much more! Catalogs are sent home 3 times per year. Keep an eye out for more information in kid mail.

The Lake Forest Park PTA Science Fair is held each year in the spring, and all students are invited to participate by entering a science project.

School Support

1st Day of School Helpers
1st Day of School Helpers

Chair:

The First Day of School Chair coordinates a group of volunteer helpers for the first two days of school. Helpers ride school buses to assist new students. Helpers are also located at the entrances of the school and in the hallways to direct students on how to find their classrooms.

The PTA's Library Chair coordinates a group of volunteers to assist the librarian with re-shelving of books and other library tasks.
Lost & Found
Lost & Found

Chair:

When students leave behind coats on the playground, or containers in the lunchroom, they are put in the Lost and Found located in the foyer area at the main entrance to the lunchroom. If your child has lost something at school, please check there. Each quarter, the PTA Lost & Found Chair takes any remaining clothing items to The Works, the Shoreline PTA's clothing room that provides assistance to families experiencing circumstances that make it difficult to purchase clothing.

The PTA coordinates a school supply ordering program with SchoolKidz, a national school supply kit company. In the spring, you can submit your order for the next year and save yourself the headache of having to hunt down the right supplies for your child. Supply kits arrive just before school starts and will be waiting for your child in their classroom.

The Schoolyard Habitat committee plans two grounds clean-up events each year - one before school starts and one in the spring. Lend a hand to keep our school grounds looking beautiful.

The Staff Appreciation committee plans montly luncheons to show how much we appreciate all of the LFP staff.
WATCH D.O.G.S.

The PTA provides financial support for the school's WATCH D.O.G.S. ® (Dads Of Great Students) program. WATCH D.O.G.S.®, a K-12 program, invites fathers, grandfathers, uncles, or other father figures to volunteer at least one day all day at their child’s/student's school during the school year. Individuals sign up at a kick-off event, held in the fall. WatchDOG volunteers perform a variety of tasks during their volunteer day including monitoring the school entrance, assisting with unloading and loading of buses and cars, monitoring the lunch room, or helping in the classroom.

Let's celebrate the beginning of the new school year! Hot dogs, fruit, chips and drinks will be provided. Free games and fun for the kids. They can try out some new playground equipment, too. No need to RSVP - everything is free, just show up.
Bike Rodeo

The LFP PTA Bike Rodeo is a fun event for kids to learn bike safety, get fitted for a helmet, and test their skills on an obstacle course. Often the LFP Police Department and Fire Department are on hand to provide guidance and answer questions, and other activities are also included to make this a fun, family event.

Come join the fun at this great annual event! Play BINGO for free - and kids get prizes for free! Free games & prizes.

The DJ will be playing all the popular tunes, maybe even the Macarena for the parents to get their groove on. All LFP family members are invited to this fun, free event. It is usually held in the winter - watch the calendar for this year's date.
Science Discovery Night

All family members are welcome to this fun night of science. Hands on activities and displays are provided by local organizations like the University of Washington and the Pacific Science Center. LFP parents and friends of the school are also welcome to put together a science related activity for this event.

Celebrate art at LFP. This annual event is a showcase of the art projects that the students have done during the year as part of the PTA's Art Docent program. Enjoy a sweet treat while looking for your child's art. This event is part of the school's Open House and is usually held at the end of May.

The PTA coordinates two Kindergarten play dates before the start of school to help new students and their parents or caregivers get to know others at the school.
Movie Night

Chair:

The PTA sponsors several free movie nights during the year. Bring a blanket or sleeping bag and get cozy on the gym floor for a great kid-friendly film. Beverages and snacks will be available for a fee.
Skate Parties

The PTA hosts two skate parties each year at the Lynnwood Bowl and Skate. Regular skate charges apply. There will be separate events for grades K-2 and 3-6. The skate parties are generally held in the fall. Keep and eye out for more information on the calendar.

Students are invited to audition for the school talent show in the spring. Those acts chosen will perform at an evening event that all family members and friends are welcome to attend.

The PTA produces a student directory each year with the names of the student's organized by classroom and alphabetically. This is a great resource for helping LFP families connect with one another. Each family receives one complimentary copy of the directory; additional copies can be purchased for $5.

The PTA Hospitality Chair makes sure that the PTA office is well stocked with snacks and coffee for when volunteers need a pick-me-up. This chair also coordinates a Welcome Coffee on the first two days of school to help new parents and caregivers get connected to LFP.

The monthly board meetings are open to anyone. Come and meet other LFP parents, see how the PTA business is conducted and bring your ideas and questions to the meeting. To try and accommodate different schedules of this interested in attending, the meeting schedule alternates each month, with one month being an evening meeting and the next a morning meeting. See the calendar for meeting dates.

Membership Drive

Our goal is to have one PTA member for every student in the school. You can become a member at any time during the school year. Cost is $14 for one person, or $25 for a couple to join. Members are invited to a free swim party at Mountlake Terrace Pool each year. Your membership fees also support the Washington State PTA in their work to advocate to the state government for positive choices for schools. Encourage friends and family members to purchase a membership too. Help us reach our goal of 100% participation.

Golden Acorn Awards

Our PTA participates in the Washington State PTA awards program known as the Golden Acorn. Each year, we present 3 Golden Acorn Awards - one in recognition of an outstanding PTA Volunteer; another to honor an outstanding LFP Teacher; and the third is awarded to a person who has been an outstanding Advocate for students and schools. These awards are handed out at the PTA Bingo Night.

The yearbook committee works tirelessly every year to take pictures of all of the students and make sure they are included in the annual yearbook. Order forms for the yearbook come home in the spring.
